Color & Coat texture: Light gold/ cream, straight coat

Shedding: Kevin has two copies of the low shedding genes (TT) for his coat. He sheds much less seasonally than our standard Golden Retrievers. His coat feels so soft and luxurious. His coat is low maintenance and requires regular brushing to keep him looking his best. We do not recommend shaving a mini Golden’s coat as the coat offers protection.

Health testing: he is tested to CHIC standards; Embark vet DNA profile, PennHip, OFA eyes, heart, patellas, elbows, and hips.

Personality: Kevin is pretty much a unicorn with his stunning good looks, low shedding, cream colored coat and he is such an awesome dog! He’s an easy going guy that loves to play fetch and go running with us. He is also very friendly and loves to be close to people. He is an absolute lover boy to his humans and the other dogs here, which makes him a wonderful all around dog.

Kevin’s DNA results indicate that he is 50% Golden Retriever and 49.5% Cocker Spaniel, and no percentage of Poodle which should be approximately 5.4%. This Poodle lineage can be traced back through Kevin’s father Flynn Ryder, who has 10.8% Poodle ancestry, then to Flynn’s mama Mia, who is 21.6% Poodle, and further back to Mia’s mama Nala, who was 50% Poodle. Michele has meticulously bred these lines and has a comprehensive understanding of the breeds involved. It was particularly intriguing that Kevin emerged with no the Poodle in the lineage which was effectively bred out of his lineage.
